Denim and Plaid

Hey Ya'll!

Well I am 99.9% sure that this is the last of my back log of outfits from the previous fall/winter.... I think :)

Just for the record this was a pretty awesome day! After these pictures were taken we all piled in the van and headed off to see the Christmas lights at Flat Iron Farm. They do have have more than just lights.  Since it is a farm they also have animals to pet, horses to ride, a really cool display of antique toys and obviously the lights.  It's free admission, you have to pay for the pony rides and pictures with Santa though. The whole atmosphere is very cool. It is a really great family outing!

Anywho onto the outfit! I wanted to dress in lots of layers because I knew we would be outside for a fair bit.  Being outside was pretty much guaranteed since there was an animal petting area and the horses :)

Green Hat - Antique Emporium ~$15

Independence Day

Hey Ya'll!

I'm slowly, but surely catching up on outfit posts :) Here's what I wore for the 4th of July.

Shirt - Eddie Bauer via Goodwill ~ $5.00
Skirt - JCrew via Back By Popular Demand ~ $8.00
Undershirt - LandsEnd $8.00
Shoes - BOBS via Kohl's ~ $7.00
Necklace - Charming Charlie's ~$10.00
Earrings - JCPenny's ~$5.00

We had quite the busy day! First off we hit the beach and the waves were AMAZING after the hurricane. Although it really was not much of a hurricane, as it turned out.  However it was nice to spend the morning on the beach, enjoying the waves, looking for shells, and running into the waves with a three year old pulling you farther in :) After that we had a bit of a rest, so we would have the stamina to stay up for the fireworks AKA needing energy to keep up with kiddos! Once fully recharged we headed out to a pool party, where I found tons of cute kiddos to take pictures of :) From there we headed to the fireworks show and although we were the last to leave we were the first to arrive, pretty cool in my book.  While waiting of the fireworks to start LL Cool J was performing and I got my groove on! That was much to the dismay of the teenagers in the group, whom I enjoyed embarrassing hehe! The fireworks were beautiful! This was my first year attempting to take pictures of them and it was very fun! I cannot wait to experiment more in the future!

How was ya'lls independence day?

Adventures in Wilmington

Hey Ya'll!

Well it's been awhile! I was in NC for quite a while without a computer, technology does not like me!! But now that I'm back and feeling more settled so I can finally put some blog posts up! Y'all will be seeing quite a few outfit posts. I had a friend take them and I'm almost done processing them all :) So with out farther ado....

You know the saying while the cat is away the mice will play..... well we played in Wilmington! Wilmington is one of my favorite cities next to Nashville and I'm so glad while I visited friends in Jacksonville we were able to take a little day trip there! I have not been there since 2004 so it was a real treat to take a girls day and let the boys fend for themselves at home. We did leave dinner in the crock pot for them, so they didn't starve terribly :)

Once we were up and awake we hit the highway.  Our first stop was a thrift store, then a Goodwill.  I love Goodwill's down there, they are super sized! I managed to get quite a few things, including Gap, JCrew, Lands'End apparel.  I can't wait to share them with ya'll! After a bit of shopping we headed into Trader Joe's and picked up lunch, and I decided to take that opportunity to stock up on my chocolate stash.  They had the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, which I was waaaaaaaay to excited to get.  But every time I look a Trader Joe's here they are out and that is no bueno! After much indecisiveness we checked out and took our lunches to a cute little park. We found a shady spot near a pond to eat. That's where this little guy was spotted.

There was quite the bale (did anyone else know this is the proper term for a group of turtles?!) of turtles! They came over to check us out and I think to score some food :) Even turtles understand the awesomeness of Trader Joe's :)

When we had finished eating, I took the opportunity to get some pictures of my outfit.  I love having people around to take pictures, I get tired of the mirror shots that I have to do when I am alone. Maybe I will be motivated to start trying with my self timer.... maybe.

Skirt - JCrew via Back by Popular Demand ~ $8
Shirt - Anthropologie ~ $20
Shoes - Lucky Brand ~ $15
Necklace - JCPenney's
Earrings- Kohl's
Garnet Rings - Gifted
Diamond Ring - Antique Warehouse $10
Watch - Seiko via Kohl's ~$70

Lastly, we heading to the Riverwalk and I geeked out over all the filming locations I recognized from Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill :) It's definitely one of my favorite places in Wilmington.  I could I walked around for hours taking pictures, sadly it was getting close to 8, the sun was setting and we were all tired.  All in all it was a wonderful trip!

Do ya'll have any favorite cities you like to visit?

Adventures in NC!

Hey ya'll I'm so excited to share some of the adventures I had in NC a few weekends ago! I wanted to share a couple of the outfits I wore on the trip.  I really purposed to stretch my wardrobe on this trip and not pack extra because I knew I was bringing an extra bag for all my workout stuff :)

The first outfit I absolutely love! I got the pants as a Christmas present AKA my Mom and I went shopping after Christmas and this is what I chose lol.  On a side note I love this now tradition because of all the sales!!! Anywho I do love this outfit because it pushes me out of my comfort zone when it comes to color.  I never thought I'd wear greenish blueish pants (If anyone has a good name for the color feel free to share!) with a blue poke-a-dot scarf. However when I was trying on clothes to pack I loved the combination! As for the rest of the outfit the shirt I got at drum roll please..... Cracker Barrel NO JOKE! It was on super clearance, I got it for $4 and the detail in the lace is amazing!!! I was not even going to look at the section, but my Mom wanted to so I'm glad I looked! The jacket I've had for years and it Banana Republic, thrifted of course! My friend and I wore matching jackets this day on accident, I should have gotten a picture! I also wore a belt and a tan cardigan with this outfit but you can't see them in the picture.

In the second outfit I couldn't wait to wear a skirt! my shorter skirts have been in hibernation wayyyy to long!!! The skirt is Ann Taylor via thrift store in Atlanta specifically.  On another side note it is one of my all time favorite thrift, technically consignment stores to visit! I can always find good quality modest skirts there.  Something that does not happen up here as often sadly.   Ok so back to the outfit! The shirt is from Gap, which I got using a gift card, and the shoes are from the previous outfit (pay less a few years ago).  I was very proud of myself for only packing a couple pairs of shoes, it definitely saved space!! Also I only brought the one purse for the weekend which was also a pat on the back for myself! It's Ralph Lauren via Marshals.

My time in NC was awesome as per usual :) Besides the breathtaking views the fellowship is always fantabulous (yep it's a word because I said so :p) They gave me really great council, which I needed.  It still surprises me how you can hear the same message over and over again, but not really hear it ya know? I know I had to be brought to the place I was to let their council sink in. Pretty amazing. On a lighter note it was also fun exploring different areas and shopping of course! It was, however super windy which made it colder for a time.  The coffee and "quality" tart made it much better! It did eventually warm up as you can tell by my outfit choice!

Well I have a cat who has been dying for some attention so I better give into her needs otherwise she will never leave me alone! I also want to get a few things done before the premiere of "19 Kids and Counting" tonight!! Do ya'll watch any shows you purpose to sit down to watch?
